Smoke Detectors
- Install detectors according to manufacturers instructions. Dust detectors to keep the sensors clean.
- Check detectors once a month and change the batteries twice a year.
- Never remove batteries unless replacing the battery.
- The City of Grand Rapids Smoke Detector Ordinance, Chapter 169, requires all residential rental properties to have hard wire detectors with a battery back-up or one of the following types of smoke detectors:
